 These are the new captain of schools that were attending the training of trainers course organized by AKWOS with the main objective of teaching them the role of sports for health and development . It was a 5 day workshop with different lessons such as children, rights, fight gender based violence, awareness in the prevention of HIV and AIDS, Conflicts Resolution through sports.  With the purpose of empowering young girls through sport, Rugando Primary School benefited from AKWOS sport material support on this Thursday. Donated materials included; 2 pairs of jersey, 2 footballs, and 30 sport shoes, all worth Frw 1,140,000. Particiapants pay attention to the remarksThe Association of Kigali Women in Sports (AKWOS) in partnership with NIKE and Women Win organized a 5 years strategic plan workshop, whose purpose was to brainstorm and agree on AKWOS activity plan for 5 years period. Note that, the main purpose of the plan is to promote both Rwandan and East African Women, through Sport and Education."We found it strategic and fruitful to have an agreed up on plan, with all stakeholders. We are strongly of the view that, with this plan, it shall be easier for our partners to know where and when to intervene"said Mme Felicite RWEMARIKA, the Executive Director of AKWOS.  Recently, more than ever before, Rwandan women are well represented in all sectors of our country’s administration, where they are part of decision makers. One typical example is where women in Rwanda fill more than half (56%) of the seats in the lower house of Parliament. In light of the government’s willingness and commitment to involve women and promote equality at all levels, it would be safe to say that women’s leadership has been critical to the continuing recovery of our nation and that Rwanda would not have been able to overcome the horrors of its past without the significant involvement of women.
